Workshop: The One-Hour MFA with Michael Kimball

The One-Hour MFA with Michael Kimball

Saturday November 14th from 4:00pm-5:00pm at Atlanta Contemporary, 535 Means Street, Atlanta, GA 30318

Registration is free but seating is limited.

The One-Hour MFA (in Fiction) will cover the best advice I have ever learned about writing. The workshop will touch on aspects of writing that include openings, story and plot, language and sentences, narration and voice, character, dialogue, description and details, endings, and other elements of fiction. The craft insights will come from the last 25+ years of my writing experience, as well as writers as diverse as Aimee Bender and Don DeLillo, Ray Bradbury and R. Kelly, Virginia Woolf and Joyce Carol Oates, Sam Lipsyte and Laura van den Berg, Haruki Murakami and Kurt Vonnegut, and many others.

Michael Kimball is the author of eight books, including Big Ray, Dear Everybody, Us, and, most recently, The One-Hour MFA (in fiction). His work has been translated into a dozen languages, and featured on NPR’sAll Things Considered and in Vice, as well as in The Guardian and Bomb.
